First In A Series Today is the scheduled launch date for the European Space Agency's Mars Express mission (at 1245 CDT), which will send an orbiter and a lander to the Red Planet. It will be followed by a U.S. rover mission launch likely sometime in the next two weeks, and a twin to that U.S. mission next month. Addendum: Here's an interesting story about the Mars Express' Soyuz launch vehicle's past as a nuclear missile.
